Hiking trails in the area

The RheinBurgenWeg and the Saar-Hunsrück Dream Loops offer wonderful hiking routes for every fitness level. Our local mountain, the Oelsberg, also has a small via ferrata.
The valley has excellent public transport connections – for example, you can easily start the hike to the “Vierseenblick” in Boppard or the via ferrata there from Oberwesel train station. As the vacation home is only 10 minutes away from the train station, you can easily use the trains for transportation.
The Rheinsteig trail on the other side of the Rhine also offers spectacular views of Oberwesel. A hike from Assmannshausen via the Niederwalddenkmal to Rüdesheim is also highly recommended.
Here are some hiking brochures to download:

Guided tour through the old town of Oberwesel
Stroll through the charming old town of Oberwesel. Visit the town wall, the historic town hall and our local mountain, the Oelsberg. We would be happy to arrange a guided tour of the town with our renowned town guide and cultural ambassador, followed by a wine tasting at our winery. Simply contact me or find out more here!
Loreley rock
An absolute must for every visitor to the Middle Rhine and the venue for the 2029 Federal Horticultural Show! The famous Loreley Rock is just a short distance from Oberwesel and offers breathtaking views of the valley and the river. There is a visitor center where you can learn more about the legend of the Loreley. You can find more information on the Loreley tourist information page.
Concerts are often held up there in summer.
For the adrenaline fans among you, there is also a summer toboggan run on the site.

Other recommended places in the area
In addition to Oberwesel, our neighboring town of Bacharach with Stahleck Castle is highly recommended and invites you to linger in the medieval old town. Further afield are Boppard, Spay, and (not only) on rainy days Koblenz, Bonn or Mainz are also well worth a visit. From the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, for example, take the comfortable cable car across the Rhine to Ehrenbreitenstein Fortress and visit the cultural center and the view of the mouth of the Moselle.
Rheinböllen Zoo
Just a 20-minute drive from Oberwesel, Rheinböllen Zoo is a great destination for the whole family.
